I've got a couple Motorola's that I picked up at an Office Depot clearance awhile back that sport a 2 mile range, 14 channels, and a digital tuner. Keep in mind that the 2 mile range is normally good if you are out in a field somewhere with 0 line-of-sight obstructions.

While I have not used them in the wild, I have heard that I wouldn't use them in hunting-type situations unless again there's no obstacles between the two parties.

Crosstalk can be a pain sometimes too, in which case you just tell the person to switch to channel X just as you would on a regular CB radio.
