Wow!!!! Have you guys been fishing the Columbia River? Not to be outdone by the big hoopla over all the coho, what about all the summer steelhead? Holy buckets! Currently these metal heads have run over 13,000 for the last four days, with a total approaching 200,000 hatchery and 74,000 wild for the month. Last year for the month of July there where only 74,000 hatchery and 33,000 wild for this month.
It looks as if there will be the largest summer steelhead run on file this year adn no press to go along with it. Last week according to the ODF&W estuary boats averages 1.33 fish/boat, and gorge boats averaged a unheard of 5.5 fish/boat! There are more summers over The Dallas Dam for this month than Bonniville last year at this time. The Columbia river tributaries should be red-hot!
But where is all the hoopla for the steelhead?
