I put 80# Whiplash on my reels for this year, and I'm impressed. Durability/abrasion resistance hasn't been a factor. You can see when the terminal portion of the line is starting to fray, and you just cut it back a bit. Even when it is starting to fray, it still has a very high percentage of its original strength. I think this is why it has a bad rap WRT abrasion resistance. Although abrasion will cause the braids to separate after awhile, it maintains almost all of its strength. Even after a section of line has completely "unbraided," the individual fibers are still intact.

Knot strength/pull through hasn't been an issue. I have yet to break the mainline. I've broken a bunch of 30# leaders on bottom snags whilst fishing Ling cod.

One downside for me is that tangles are somewhat harder to undo, since the diameter is so small.
