The best idea is to use the best hook you can get and for my money, that's gammy's. I do a lot of jig fishing for steelhead and tie my own jigs. If your setting the depth for your drift right, you won't loose many jigs, except to a fish now and then. I went on a jig tying frenzy a couple of years back, and still have most of them. Everyone has their own favorite way of fishing but, after switching over to floats and jigs, I've caught more steelhead than ever!
