When Joe ('Fly) and I searched for early salmon on a smaller zipper a few weeks ago we came across 2 nets. One was this abandoned net in the pic Joe sent for me to post. The other had just been strung across the entire river by a Native American Indian and his Euro-American partner; who had told us the two of them recently got out of prison and met there. The ***** *** ******** driftboat is pretty recognizable in that area of this small river so we couldn't take a closeup of the active net in their presence. We tried a long distance shot that may not have turned out. A long range zoom lens would be valuable in illegal netting and snagging situations. Nets are supposed to be on schedules, allocations, and with a partial river gap to allow some fish to pass thru. Of the nets you guys have seen, how many are set properly and how many are strung clear across the river?
