KB,

I don't know the particulars of the MDFW Kootenai management plan. While most NW MT rivers have native cutts and dollies, I do think I heard the Koot' has both native bows and the big fish plants from the B.C. lake, that is of the same system. They are not real numerous, most of the fish are 12 to 20 inchers. But there are a fair number of giant 'bows in that gorgeous large river. That's why I think it's a good idea to try the steelhead drift techs on them - besides, they work on the smaller fish too.

The Lake Kookanuska above Libby Dam has an excellant kokanee fishery also. A great area!

They filmed that movie "... Always ..." (can't recall the name of it) about fire fighter pilots with Richard Dreyfus, Jon Goodman, and Holly Hunter there in Libby.
