Good question Tad. And an equaly good answer Chad. I would just like to add that I'm a noodle rodder, and use light line. Therefore I do keep my rod low, but with a good bend in it to use it as a shock absorber. And at times I have stuck the tip of my rod in the water to get a fish to turn when running. It seems the extra line in the water puts more resistance on the fish
