Boy am I stupid. Thanks DJ. wink BTW, I have become quite experienced over the years at force feeding worms. By practicing with real ones while trout fishing. eek laugh

Parker and PhishPhreak, the fish up here seem to make a beeline back to the ocean if a worm longer than 3 inches gets in their path. In other words, it spooks them. That's been my experience anyway. Tried the longest worm I could find a few weeks ago-maybe 5 inches long(a bass worm) and had a fish swirl at the end of my drift, so I thought sweet, one more cast and I'll get 'im. Well, one more cast and that fish leaped out of the water swam downstream aways, then leaped again. This continued until the fish was out of sight, downstream a couple hundred yards, past a bend in the river. It wasn't a previously hooked fish because no one had even hooked any fish yet that morning. Your fish up there must be different.
