I've been meaning to mention this for a bit, but keep forgetting to.

It was recently announced that the portion of the Hoh on both sides of the river that is known as Schmidt Bar, has been purchased by a conservancy group to protect salmon habitat.

The area is home to portions of both Winfield Creek and Elk Creek ... two major spawning tributaries to the Hoh River. This will mean that the vast alder population in here is off limits and will help keep this spawning / rearing habitat in prime shape.

In this world of semmingly never-ending bad news for the fish, I'd thought I pass this bright note along!
