Whatever works. Love to catch those bigbows on a fly and someday will chase the steelhead with with fly gear. I use jigs for macks on Tahoe and downrigger for cutts on pyrmid. But when I make the run to home waters of Washington on the rivers for salmon and steelhead its gear and bait for me. I find catching more important than ambiance assuming I get the perfered situation i.e. not blue creek.
