Thanks alot for the input. I've been away from the computer all weekend in Central Oregon, and I actually got to do a little fly fishing in between skiing and watching my 10 month old son. I landed a 17 inch Dolly on the Metolius, and I couldn't believe how hard that fish pulled; on a 5 wt rod, it was like fighting a steelhead.

I'll copy some of this to my desktop, and hopefully get a chance to sort through it this week. Oh, and the St. Aiden's not a disc, my mistake. One of my local fly guru's said that there's nothing wrong with the reel; I should have used a Bimini Twist to attach fly line to backing instead of relying on the original nail knot that was used before. There was probably nothing wrong with the nail knot except it had never been checked. The reel was given to me with used line.
