A fishing buddy from Burien had his 9.9 Yamaha kicker stolen two nights ago. It was an electric start, long shaft, high thrust motor. The security cable was cut and it was unbolted from the bracket and electric cables disconnected. The police told him that there is a group who pay high school students to drive around and find the boats. The thieves then hit an area at night, usually getting several motors in a night. They suspect that the motors are taken up to Alaska and sold to commerical fishermen. This group has been around for a while now and the FBI has been involved in trying to shut them down. Until that happens, best to take the time and effort and store outboards in the garage or basement.
