Okay,

I got up this morning at about 5am and decided to go fishing before I went to work. On the way to the river I stopped at Monte Square and bought some jigs 'cause I wanted to try fishing that method. Anyway, I didn't know which colors to buy, so I just picked the pretty ones. Really.

I get to the river at about 6am and headed up to my new favorite little hole. I tied on one of teh jigs, added some shrimp scent, and started casting. On my second cast ever with a jig, WHAMMO! A short fight later, I brought a nice 10lb native buck to the shore, took a pic of him in the water, gave the jig a shake, which was lodged right at the kipe in his upper jaw, and away he went. Woohoo! Broke my jig cherry.

I moved down a little bit to hit another hole, and this time I switched to my egg rod. First cast in the slot, and WHAMMO! Fish on. Another short fight and in comes another native, this one a hen of similar size. She was also hooked in the roof of her mouth, just at the nose.

I have had a big grin on my face all day thinking about the two fish I was blessed with this morning. I highly suggest it, to those who can.

I'll post pictures after I get home.

Andy
