Here are some vague directions. Go through the main part of town, near the Red Apple grocery store and continue towards the boat basin. You will see a sign to the left that says Westhaven State park near the conveience store near Westport Shipyards. Go down that road, and you will come to a parking lot. You're there. That is how you get to the jetty.

If there are waves crashing over the jetty, don't go out. There are very large rocks with deep crevasses out on the jetty, so leave the kids and dogs, and infirmed at home. It is a VERY DANGEROUS adventure, if you are not paying attention. Be careful, and if you have the slightest doubt about it being safe, don't go out.

That said, there are a number of species to be caught out there such as Lings, greenling, rock fish, surf perch, and crab (if you bring one of those castable crab traps with you, they really do work).

Clam necks, and herring work well for the smaller fishies. Use the smaller fishies for Lings.

Be careful and have fun.
