Mooching = Whole or cut plug herring, usually dropped to the bottom and retrieved with varying speeds back to the surface, and doing it again and again and again..... Until you get your fish.

Jigging= Using a jig Point Wilson Dart or similar jig weighing between 2-6 ounces, dropping it to the bottom or where you are marking fish on your depth finder. When at the approximate depth of the fish, you lift your rod tip up rapidly and let the jig flutter until your line is tight and do it again and again until you find fish.
