Hey DR, The voltage range you mentioned is about right for a properly "zinc"ed boat, meaning that your underwater metals are being protected from corrosion. However, this range is too high for optimum fishing. You want to be no higher than .6 Volts. In your case the Black Box will lower your DR wire voltage to the "fishy" range and I cannot recommend your getting a "Box" strongly enough!
