HI: in answer to your question about fishing the lewis and the Multnomah channel, the event was original planned for the St Helens area. This included the mouth of the lewis and into the channel in the event of weather or water conditions or closure of the Main Stem (Columbia) due to the popularity of the area, and the number of boat ramps on both sides of the river.

I would like to remind everyone that although we are not setting a boundry use some discretion on where you fish. I do not think taking fish from an area where you drive to and have to launch your boat twice, once to fish and once to attend the bbq is in the spirit of this event. (like having an event on Clack and have folks fish the Sandy or some other river and then going to the weigh in later.)

Many events pick a ramp to launch from then you can fish anywhere from there as long as you get back to the weigh in in time. We did not want people to have to drive long distances when they are within eye sight of where we are having the event...WA fishers having to drive to St. Helens, or the Or. guys driving to the Lewis.

Thumper and I have discussed where you can fish and we came to the conclusion that we are adults fishing for fun and bragging rights. We feel that if you go too far that when you tell the group where you caught the fish and you get boooooooddddd by the group then you strayed too far.

I intend to fish the area around Sand Island and to get into a line with other bb fishers...I know I can go to the hot area around Longview, or to Bonneville, but I think these areas are a little far from the St. Helens area.

So in sum, I would say you get to launch your boat one time to fish and to attend the bbq and to return to your trailer. I think this would be fair to everyone.
