You're totally right, GaryK.

It's an unfortunate characteristic of the ESA is that it is a last ditch effort to stave off extinction (usually invoked too late to even do that).

The key is to not let things get that far, because the ESA is usually here to stay once it kicks in, and in the cases where it does leave, it's usually due to extinction rather than due to recovery.

I'm sure glad the Shrub administration wants to loosen the restrictions in the ESA. I'm sure that'll help get the fish back even faster. frown
