I would recomend the diawa also.I have fished them for years.I resently bought two shimano sahara 2000 for summer fishing.Both came with stiff bails out of the box.Last week one of them got reel bad up on the quinault.Back at camp I pulled out the toolkit to oil it and found a whole bunch of extra parts in the bail mechanism alone.I am not a fan of complicating things that already work.I do not see anything good about a bunch of laser cut parts to keep track of in the field.

The diawas are simple strong work horses with all the finer points you could ever want.

It is my opinion that Shimano reels are over engineered.

Whatever you get get the fastest retrieve you can,it helps in the hookset.
