Unfortunatly those pixel dimensions are only good for about a 5.5" x 7.5" reproduction in offset print production. It needs to be 300 dpi at the size it will be used at. Turn up the res on that camera for your potential mag cover shots - your compositions and lighting are usually beautiful so I'd think you'd get some Cover usage if you can turn up the res. What you need is in the neighborhood of 2588 x 3525 pixels or better for a full-bleed 8.5 x 11 cover shot. Photographic prints usually only need 150 dpi (depending on process) which is why your enlargement looked fine.
