I am amazed how an informational posting can get so sidetracked!! With that being said, I was just wondering why the news release about the Columbia River net season DID NOT say that the new "tangle" nets were to be used. What ever happen to the "tangle nets"?

The last time that I heard, this was the new savior for the continued gill net fishery. Has anyone heard why they are not required now for the current Columbia River gill net fishery?

It seems to me, that the "tangle nets" were the gill netters last recourse to continuing a fishery that almost always kills what ever enters the net. Could someone please tell me what's going on now?

Thanks… and please stay focused on the issue at hand
