The point of this is buyer beware not which magazine to read. The problem described is not exclusive to FHN but other magazines as well. You may subscribe directly to a magazine and then get a renewal that you think is directly from the magazine but it only LOOKS like it. So you send money and someone scams it. So I agree with the original post to beware of where you are sending subscription money.
