I do not fish it any more but grew up fishing it.I went to school up the road and used to trout fish it after school. There has always been a few people fishing the estuary ,five six people at a time. You could actually catch a few chums back then.
Drew did open the door for creation of the snag fest that it is now.I actually fished the sunday morning before his first newspaper story about dyes inlet small water. That morning there was one other fly fishermen there. That afternoon there was well over a hundred people there.I actually asked because I was so shocked.remember watchimg a guy with 15 t0 20 chums on a rope, dragging it up the creek.
I got into a debate on Davis's radio show with Drew shortly after that asking him if turning that many people loose on such a small system was a good idea.
I do not blame Drew for talking about Chico creek though. Before he let the cat out of the bag, people were not interested in chums. If he wouldn't have said something somebody else would of.There is not a chum stream with a good section of snaging water that isn't being sh@t on anymore. There is another healthy chum stream in the erea that doesn't have the snagging water and ..what..nobody fishes it!
I can't remember who it was that posted in reply to Rockfish's post but I do remember you caling Chico good fishing. That tells me alot about what you know about fishing
