One thing you don't want to depend on when fishing the nooch is media reports. In today's Seattle Times a fishing reports descirbes the Wynoochee as good for winter steelhead.
The only way you could fish for steelhead on the nooch in the last couple of days is with a shovel. It has been MUDDY at best.
