I know that showing them the real world and pointing out the effects of decisions good and bad is a terrible thing to do to a kid. It's better to shelter tham and teach them that society made people the way they are and they have no role in the process.


They have been to a local jail to show them the effects of poor decisions. We take them to work in a soup kitchen or food bank. They have seen autopsied lungs of smokers. They have seen homeless shelters. They have seen drug addicts.
My kids will see it all and talk about it and be better equipped to live in this world than most.
