I heard Colin Powell speak the other night on the BBC and he stood up for the adminstration on its decision to go into Iraq but they did so on flawed intelligence (brought to you by Bushco).
He did so when the interviewer asked him if he was going to apologize to the world for lying about the reasons for going to war in Iraq when he addressed the U.N.
He now has to defend the adminstration because he is cupable also. To admit anything else would also cast himself in a bad light
