I hope the food labeling fiasco is solved to the benefit of the consumer. I'm not so sure that it makes a big difference tho'. So much of our food, especially produce, comes from outside the country. Produce from places where the use of, and type of, pesticide contamination is not regulated or controlled in any manner. Internal labeling laws can't touch the problem.
E-coli was on the 'Dateline" agenda the other night. Those bagged salads you buy have killed some people. E-coli contamination the proven culprit. How does the lettuce get contaminated?
NO IDEA, say the farmers. Maybe birds flew over the fields. Maybe cows crapped in the irrigation water. Maybe some of the pickers crapped in the fields. ad nauseaum.
