I agree, media is profit driven, regardless of the bent of its individual reporters. I recall one of Andy Rooney's funny stories at the end of 60 Minutes years ago about why crash stories sell. He said no one wants to read about a 747 with 400 passengers on board that leaves JFK airport and safely lands a few hours later at London's Heathrow airport, where all the passengers disembarked and continued on to their destinations. But when a plane crashes, and people die, folks want to hear and read about it.
