I-917 (Yet another $30 Car Tab Initiative) looks to be in serious trouble of not qualifying for the ballot. He turned in 266,000 signatures on the July 7th deadline. It needs about 225,000 valid signatures to qualify. So, if there is an invalid signature rejection rate of less than 15%, it will qualify. However, of the 14 initiative drives that have made it to the counting station, his invalid signature rate is between 16.7% and 23%. Not out of the ordinary for paid signature drives, BTW.

Now, this is where it gets real interesting. On the day he turned in the signatures, he said he had a touch over 300,000 signatures. So, where did the 34,000 signatures go? I believe there are a couple of possible answers:

A. That dirty Republican Secretary of State flushed a bunch of petitions down the toilet.

B. They were used as padding in Timmy's Darth Vader suit and he did not take them out.

C. Tim Eyeman lied.

For everyone that answers anything but C, I have some real, nice Kool-Aid for you.

If this fails to make the ballot, it will be the 2nd major defeat for the Lieman this year. It doesn't matter what the rest of us think of him, if his sugar daddy (Michael Dunmire) finds his money going down a rathole (or into Timmy's deep pockets) will he continue to bankroll this guy? Stay tuned, it will probably be September before the Secy. of State goes through all the signatures.
