He's not in my district, but from what little I read about Reichert, he's probably a good man for the job. I think what harms him is being a Republican and thereby associated with the Republican House and the White House, even though he's demonstrated some independence.

I was just thinking yesterday and wondering if a "Dan Evans" Republican could be elected in western WA these days. Fiscal conservative; social liberal. Doesn't fit with the neocon approach, and it seems like such a candidate would be rejected by the Republican party and not even get a chance to run.
