This week-end was the second annual Snoopy Rod Classic (SRC).
Heavy coastal rains puked things out on the west end, so a change of venue / targeted species was put into effect at the last moment:
This doesn't look like anything around Forks, except for the rain! Upper Skagit was our destination:
12 of us joined in for a day of chasin' dollies ... knowing that the steelhead odds were gonna be low, especially when fishing with a slight handicap!
My rod of choice this year?? What else, Spongebob Squarepants!!
Here's the Tweety Rod going to work on a fat Dolly for Rich. Tweety was a backup to his Barbie rod that now rests at the mouth of the Sauk after it was pulled out of the boat while he helped me land a fish.
My second largest one of the day was this 22 incher ...
Kent acts oblivious to the potato ready to land about 5 feet from our boat as the fellas on John's boat do a high five celibrating a successful launch of the potato cannon ... also later used to lauch other organic materials
And the winners? Forks 'boy' (Gordy and Pat weenied out at venue change) continue with a another strong showing by opening up a can of whoop-ass on their home turf ... well, not really. I did manage to retain my second place Snoop Sweater for another year with a 24 inch Dolly, but Jeff walks away with the Grand Prize, bumping Robbo from the podium this year by actually catching a steelhead at the ramp before any of the boats even headed out ... go figure!
Lots of fun again this year ... thanks to all those who particpated, We doubled the number of entrants from lat year and hope to see even more anglers next year!
Maybe I'll get everything dried out by then!
