I know you guys are talking about building one, but FYI Browning makes a sweet little 7' UL spinning 2 pc rod . Its the Syntec IM6, rated for 2-6 lb. and 1\16-1\4 oz. I fish mine with a stradic 2000. It has the reel seat toward the back, so with a small spinning reel like the shimano it all balances-out nice. The cork in front is a full 2 hand-width's long. The one I have will cast a mile, and its a trout catching sono***un. Makes those E.washington bow's feel like a hot steelie, a real hoot. And about $50 if I remember.........
