Using the adapter sounds good for the motor if it's not running, but what about the pump without any water? Running the impeller dry won't hurt it?

I guess I might have to simply start doing the lake thing on the way home. Wouldn't take any more time than hooking up the garden hose at home. Probably oughta put a washdown pump in the boat so I can hose the whole thing down while it's sitting in the lake.
