I use 50 and 80# Tuff Line on Shimano TLD25 reels...the smaller the diameter the better for access to the bottom with less line off the reel. The newer lines have a real tiny diameter and definitely make a big difference. As the current picks up it is easy to see the angle difference on the rod with the tiny diameter line vs the older thicker dacrons .
