I've owned both. They are both good boats, but the Lavro was finished a lot nicer. The Clackacraft was an '85 or so, and the shop was young then - they may do a nicer job now.

What I mean by this is the Clack had some rough saw edges on the edge of the seats and such. Nothing that would impair the function, but it just wasn't as nicely done a boat.

I don't think there is enough difference between the handling of the two boats to worry about. They're both fine, but neither rows as nicely as a Tracy O'Brien wooden boat my friend and I made that we had before the Lavro. I suspect that was due to the sharper chines and light weight of the wood boat. It was also smaller, which is why we got the lavro.
