Opening Day DBSD

Launched out of JWM (John Wayne Marina) at O'dark hundred hours, made the entrance with no problem. No fish, no bumps, but lots of boats! Picked up a report from the boat ramp on CB at about 0930... "three fish on the ladder with a 13# at the top".

LESSON LEARNED:
1) Overheard the derby being reffered to as the "Iron Man Derby". By noon the wind was kicking at (guessing) 20 knots and gusting 30. You guys warned me... you were right!

2) Some people will do just about anything for a chance at 3K. (based on some of the smaller boats in that weather)

3) Age can slow a man down... that was based on the way I felt by the time I got home.

SUMMARY:
"The worst day fishing is still better than my best day at work" and I think from now on I'll just do some trout fishing on sunny days. Maybe take a kid fishing and get them hooked on it. (The curse lives on!) fishy
