You weren't running the computer off the generator were you? If so, that's very dangerous to your box. Generators don't supply clean power at all. I'd recommend an APC battery backup unit for the computer. I have a APB Backups PRO 650 and it has paid off more than several dozen times in the past 10 years. You can get replacement batteries for the UPSs on batteries.com for a really good price (If I got the APC branded one it would have cost me around $70, Batteries.com had the exact same battery, different name, for $30.

A little expensive, but well worth the price (and you get up to, depending on model and if hooked up per instructions, a warranty up to $25,000 coverage for anything that's connected to it if they go POOF!
