Really no danger of actually getting flooded regardless of water height where we live. We're on a very high bank above the river, and even with max high water in Dec, 1999, the water wasn't even close to the top of the bank ... but it made quite the racket raging through the trees on our bank.

Never quite understood why people build on flat spots along the rivers ... they're flat for a reason, I think some people call them flood plains !!
