Things got ugly on that other thread and some of you might think poorly of me for my beliefs. However, in the last two weeks two of my friends were called up.

One leaves today. Yesterday he took all of his finals in my department by himself. All of the political science professors are very liberal, but every single one of them gave him a hug and thanked him for what he was doing. He is proud of what he was going to be doing and honored to do so. Put his graduation way off course, left his wife at home, and went to do his duty. Remarkable that the human spirit can be so selfless.

My other friend that was called up I went to high school with and is one of my best drinking buddies. I'll miss him everyday in my early political thought class when he's not there.
