I have a Mercury Optimax 225 Saltwater 2 stroke. It is fast and extremely economical . I had some problems with it initially but Mercury finally figured out the DFI technology and took care of the problems. They sent me a $100 merchandise certificate for my trouble and also extended the 2 year warranty to 3 years. Which motor to buy is a tough debate as there are loyalists for each brand. This is my first big out board on a big boat and I love its performance. The problem I see is finding the right mechanic and when it is out of warranty is it going to cost an arm and a leg to maintain.
