lewis river fisher-
I make drifting "float head jigs" with marabou tails, chenile body and a cheater for a head where the jig head would be. i cant post any pics cuz my camara isnt working but i can get some too you. they work good but they are not for "searching" unknown water. they are best used where you know the hole well so you dont lose as many. (dont fish the soul duc with em). they are a little more labour intensive than just tying up a corkie and yarn. I think that these are the secret weapon.

dont give up on jigs in the summer, even with dark bodie jigs- try and keep a little pink in the pattern. like a pink butt skunk

ps. its more important to go with a cork float and a 8 lb leader in low and clear than a small jig.
