I was invited out for a neat trip today. My new friend Kevin asked me if I wanted to fish a secluded spot (not tellin' where) for lingcod, cabezon and black sea bass. We would be fishing from kayaks!

When I saw the weather report today for 8-12 foot seas, I was a bit nervous, but Kevin said to trust him, we would be fishing in a protected area. While the seas raged, this is what "our" water was like.

Kevin made all of the boats we were fishing out of, and I was pleased at how stable they were. Here is another shot of one of the other guys we fished with.

In all, we caught 4 lings and kept one, caught 8 black sea bass, and kept 3. We also had numerous hits and breakoffs from cabezon and bigger lings. I kept a 27" male for dinner tomorrow, and he wasn't too happy, as you can see from this picture. This is where my feet needed to be!

Finally, we landed after 4 hours of hard fishing, and a missed shot at a coyote running full bore on the beach. Here was the result of todays outing.

It was a great day on the water, and I was so sad to hear about the tragedy on Tillamook Bay. If you know where this is, please keep it to yourself. The area can't take much pressure. Thanks in advance.
