Though they are designed to appear as squid, fish hit them because of the shape and size mimics baitfish. The tenacles actually provided extra action to the lure. To be effective for salmon, they have to be used behind a flasher or dodger for action. They can also be used for jigging, but they are not as effective as normal lead jigs.

As far as what works for me doesn't necessary mean it works for others. Everybody has their own niche when it comes to colors.. especially when fishing for Silvers. For Blackmouth, I only used glow in the dark colors in color combos of plain or green/glow.
