Living toward the Kenai Peninsula direction of Anchorage does give you quicker access to the fishing out on the Pen there. But its really crowded fishing much of the time. I suggest you check out the northwest suburbs of town, including out toward the little town of Eagle River. If you dont mind a bit of a commute Palmer AK is a good sized nice town thats more peaceful than Anchorage. Better weather on average too, and you can grow the worlds biggest veggies in your garden. But the best thing is its closer proximity to the great Susitna and Glukana rivers and their fish loaded tributaries. And less crowds fish those than the ones on the Pen.
