That lojack unit sounds pretty cool, but get this. 1 week after my kicker motor was stolen. My buddy down in Longview who I bought the motor from received a phone call from a boat dealer in Auburn. The guy in Auburn said some "crack-head" looking guy was in his shop trying to sell this Merc 4-stroke 9.9. He ran the serial numbers and got my buddies phone number and called him asking if his motor had been stolen. He in turn called me and asked if my motor had been stolen. Since that phone call I had been in touch with Olympic boats (where my boat was when the motor was stolen) and they had been working with the local detectives. In a 1 month period, that "crack-head" had been to 4 dealers in the Puget Sound area trying to sell that motor.
Now you tell me, what the &$#* is going on! Why was this theif never caught! The police department never even called me about this. I've talked to Olympic Boats several times and after a month, the detective never got back with them about this. It's been a year now, and like my earlier post says, my insurance company took care of me...but somewhere out there is a 2000 Mercury 9.9 4-stroke motor with a broken clamp.
