I fished Elliot Bay on Friday morning with a friend. We got a later than hoped for start at 0530, but it turned out OK. We boated a 22 lb king by 0615 and a 31 lb king at 0800. Both fish were taken off of the East Waterway, one on a magnum green glow squid and the other on a whole herring behing a flasher. The first was down at 90' and the later at 130'. We quit fishing at 0830 since my friend had to be at work and I already had plenty of salmon in the boat. I went to Hoodsport for the first time ever the next morning on Sat and started fishing by the hatchery. We saw a lot of fish jumping along the shore but didn't see any catching so we started trolling north. We got about 6 miles north of the hatchery by the time my friend got his depth sounder working properly. We got our first fish about 1100 and spirits started to pick up. We marked some other fish so decided to stay in the area. My friend, son and I filled out a 6 king limit by 4:15 pm after missing 3 strikes. The fish ranged from 14 lbs to 28 lbs with an average of 19 lbs. Three of them were chrome bright and two showed a slight tinge of gold while one was starting to develope canines and was slightly dark. All of the fish came on coyote spoons behing flashers between 50 - 70' in water depths from 100 - 210'. The weather and water were calm and the overcast skies made for great days of salmon fishing.
