Luke and I thought we'd file an Area 9 fishing report and show off the first salmon Luke ever caught. Luke recently moved up from his E. Oregon farm where he used to catch a lot of trout. Even though he was a little too bashful to ask, I knew from talking to him at church that he was dying to catch a salmon that he'd seen jumping out in front of his place. The afternoon cleared up early for me and although we didn't have a lot of time before evening services, he was ready at the call. We dropped in at the Eglon launch around 3:00 PM and hit our first fish within minutes. Although he lost it, it wasn't long before we tagged a few more and finally got a nice one in the boat. I'm sure it is one he will never forget (remember your first?). Although he is very proud of the silver he brought home to his family, it is the huge (15lb?) "shark" (dogfish) that he can't stop telling everybody about. Boys, eh? Anyway we stayed pretty busy and were able to get the job done before 5:00 PM. We still had plenty of time to haul out and get to our seats by 6:00 to give thanks for a great day.
