Sometimes dinosaurs are perfectly good. I have a Si-Tex HE357 paper chart recorder on my rig. State of the art when it came out, and I'd have to spend somewhere around 600 bucks for the equivalent display size and resolution today (say, a Lowrance LCX-15MT). 600 bucks will buy a LOT of replacement chart paper at 5 bucks a roll (I go through 2-3 rolls a year) Of course, it looks kind of silly mounted next to a brand new Garmin GPSMAP176.
