It's nice to have a magnetic field isn't it!

There is some evidence that the magnetic field is weaking and may reverse within a few generations. I recently saw tis on Nova

It is believed that one of the reasons Mars is a dead as it is is because it lacks a magnetic field to protect it from Solar Radiation.
