Ditto on threading it on the line. You can get these really long worm threaders that come in 2 packs at GI joes that work great. I use 6 inchers exclusively. Last year, when I really began experimenting with the pinky, I actually did better on the longer ones when drift fishing. When float fishing, I use the little thumpers made by seducer. Smaller worms on a jig head will result in more hook ups I believe. I remember getting takedowns while fishing with the worm under a float last year and coming up emptyhanded. As soon as I went to about 3" on the jighead, problem solved. However, I like it 20 times better when drifted. So do the fish
